Police investigate attempted child abduction in Park Ridge

Police are investigating an attempted child abduction that happened Monday in northwest suburban Park Ridge.

Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the 1900 block of Parkside Drive about 5:50 p.m. and spoke to a 7-year-old boy who said he was approached by an unknown man, according to a statement from Park Ridge police.

The boy said the man grabbed his arm, that he had a gun and that he was a murderer, police said. The boy pulled away and ran before the suspect chased him, fell and then fled.

The man was described as a 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-tall white man in his early to mid-20s with a medium build, police said. He was wearing blue shorts or pants, a grey shirt and a blue hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Park Ridge Police Department at (847) 318-5252.
