Sheriff's office volunteer's quick intervention saves dog tied to moving semi

ASH FORK, Ariz. (FOX 13) - A dog remained tied a semi-truck, and could’ve ended up on the highway if it wasn’t for a sheriff volunteer.

In Ash Fork, Arizona, the “volunteer in patrol” was leaving a gas station parking lot to meet with a deputy when he noticed a tractor-trailer pulling out with a dog attached to its bumper. The driver was heading to the interstate, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. 

The VIP activated his lights and siren to alert the driver. The agency said the truck driver was distracted and headed to the highway, forgetting to unleash his dog. They said no charges are pending.

A VIP works to assist deputies in different aspects during their patrol, including traffic control and vacation property checks.
