CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - It was life or death for military doctors in Bogota, Colombia.

Doctors were challenged with removing a live grenade from a soldier's head.

While on patrol, the soldier accidently fired a grenade launcher leaving the grenade in his head.

Because doctors were afraid of the grenade exploding in the hospital they built an operating table in the parking lot.

Luckily doctors removed the grenade successfully.

The soldier is stable for now but he will need up to four more surgeries to rebuild his face.
