Steve Bannon leaves White House preparing for 'war'

FOX 32 NEWS - Steve Bannon departs the White House as one of the most famous figures on the populist, nationalist right, famous enough that “Saturday Night Live” portrayed him as the grim reaper pushing President Trump around the Oval Office.

A multi-millionaire from working on Wall Street, Bannon immediately returned to fiery Breitbart News.  Headlines declared he's preparing for “war” and talked of a second civil war about to erupt.

Bannon said he resigned voluntarily. But Trump and his new chief of staff John Kelly were reportedly upset at Bannon's schemes to undercut presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner and national security advisor H.R. McMaster, among others.

Bannon told the Weekly Standard, "The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over."

He also blamed congressional Republicans: "What Trump ran on ... Where is funding for the border wall? ... Have they rallied around the Perdue-Cotton immigration bill? They haven't.”

“He's someone that brought a lot of talent and wisdom. He understands world history like few others do in this country. So, he brought a lot of skills,” Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) said.

Politico reports Bannon told associates he still plans to play a big role in this stage of the Trump presidency, even though he's outside the White House. He said he's going to be "Bannon da Barbarian," going after enemies on Capitol Hill and even some who are still inside the Trump White House.
