Chicago hit a new milestone when it comes to migrants being sent up from Texas.

Since August 31, the city has welcomed more than 800 asylum seekers sent up from the Texas border via bus without notice.

Some new U.S. citizens got a special welcome Tuesday at Chicago’s Daley Plaza.

Officials in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village have confirmed that two migrants who were bused to a local hotel from Chicago are infected with scabies.

"Any dollar that goes to the state of Texas or the state of Arizona, every single one of those dollars needs to be recommitted to cities like Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C."

Governor JB Pritzker has issued a disaster declaration and called up National Guard members to help with the waves of migrants being bused to Chicago.

Pritzker says the proclamation is necessary to ensure sufficient capacity to meet the needs of more than 500 asylum seekers who have arrived already, with more buses arriving nearly every day.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker's office took aim at local officials who have spoken out about the relocation of migrants, suggesting the complaints were xenophobic.

The mayor of Elk Grove says the village was given no advanced notice and was "forced to scramble to get answers."

More buses carrying migrants from Texas are expected to arrive at Chicago’s Union Station on Friday. It marks the fourth time since last Wednesday that the city has welcomed dozens of migrants at a time.
