In his first official move as president-elect, Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Monday announced the formation of the Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board which will “help shape” the incoming administration’s approach to managing the coronavirus pandemic.

There were two notable holdouts among the world leaders who rushed to congratulate Joe Biden on his victory in the U.S. elections: the leaders of Latin America’s two biggest countries, both of whom have been seen as friendly to President Donald Trump.

Iran’s president has called on President-elect Joe Biden to return the United States to Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers.

Now, Biden has to build a government while contending with a Senate that could stay in GOP hands, a House sure to feature fewer Democratic allies and a public that includes more than 70 million people who would prefer that President Donald Trump keep the job.

"I just talked to the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden," Bush said in a statement. "I extended my warm congratulations and thanked him for the patriotic message he delivered last night."

The vote count continues in Georgia. Joe Biden still holds a lead in the state over President Trump by about 10,000 votes.

On Saturday, Democrat Joe Biden captured it back — and also won the presidency — after The Associated Press declared the former vice president the winner of his native Pennsylvania at 11:25 a.m. EST.

"I could not be prouder to congratulate our next President, Joe Biden, and our next First Lady, Jill Biden," Obama said in a statement.

With two Senate seats up for grabs in Georgia, there is a lot at stake for both parties. Results will likely determine which political party controls the Senate.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were projected as the winners of the White House Saturday, and around the world, celebrities, politicians, athletes and millions of voters reacted Biden clinching the presidency after FOX News and the Associated Press projected that Biden would take the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Saturday's election verdict isn't the last step in selecting an American president.

After the ballots were counted, Harris became the country’s first Black and first female second-in-command. She will be inaugurated along with president-elect Biden on Jan. 20.

The video footage, posted to Harris’ Twitter account, showed her congratulating Biden over the phone with a wide smile.
