Mayor Lori Lightfoot vowed to do everything she can to remove unhoused people at O’Hare Airport, calling it a safety issue, after the situation drew national attention — and criticism.

“Our Department of Human Resources, DHR, will have a new list of items from a candidate's background that they will never consider when deciding to hire an applicant,” said Lightfoot.

The Chicago mayoral race is in now in its final two weeks, and candidates are rolling out major endorsements and new policy plans in hopes of gaining public support.
