We may all be sick of Zoom meetings, but students at Loyola University Chicago were thrilled about one on Thursday that had a divine touch.

A week after being placed on administrative leave, a popular Catholic school principal is officially leaving the parish.  

The Israeli Consul General for the Midwest visited Chicago on Monday to support businesses and religious leaders who have been the recent target of hate crimes in West Rogers Park.

In his letter, Principal "Doc" Mathius said: “I have reached this determination as I perceive….as I have for some time now…that the social-emotional toll that continuing COVID protocols have taken on many of our students have become more toxic than the COVID virus itself.”

Lucien Greaves, co-founder of the Satanic Temple, said the club will teach students benevolence, empathy, critical thinking, problem-solving and creative expression.

Police said the man yelled threats and profanities at the young students.

"A young Jewish male was on his way to evening services last night and somebody jumped him and used some racial slurs. So he came into the synagogue very shaken up. We got him the help he needed," said Rabbi Levi Notik.

St. Athanasius and St. Joan of Arc, and St. Mary and St. Nicholas will be uniting. They'll have the same pastor, but the individual churches will still stay open.

The Archdiocese of Chicago announced Tuesday it will combine two parishes in southwest suburban Evergreen Park into a unified church, part of an ongoing Renew My Church initiative launched in 2016 to address church membership.

"The chaos, the lawlessness is so bad in Chicago that the criminals openly mock our police and our city leaders, and even our governor," Pastor Corey Brooks said.

The Archdiocese said that Father James McIlhone served Santa Maria del Popolo Parish in Mundelein as associate pastor in the 1980s. It is during that time that he is accused of sexual abuse.
