Local double-amputee to run Chicago Marathon

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Thousands of runners are descending onto the streets of Chicago this weekend for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

But Chicago native Jami Marseilles is not your average runner. She became a bilateral below-knee amputee after she suffered severe frostbite when she and a college friend were trapped in their car during a blizzard for 11 days.

She didn't let the tragic set back stop her from achieving her goals, and she now wants to become the first double-amputee woman in the world to complete a marathon! It's only fitting she's doing it at home - by running the Chicago Marathon.

Jami joined us LIVE on GDC Friday morning to talk about her journey and what it will be like to run the marathon on Sunday. Check it out!
