BELLIS BLOG: Summer is finally here

After a cool and wet first half of summer, things have finally warmed up and dried out for Chicago.

The average high temperature from June 1st through July 16th was 77 degrees. Since then the average high temperature is 87 degrees. Talk about a big difference.

Chicago’s O’Hare hit 90 degrees on Tuesday and Midway climbed to 92 (July 28th). That’s only the 4th 90 degree day of the summer, but that’s 1 more 90 degree day than ALL of last summer.

Almost 10 inches of rain fell between June 1st and July 17th. Only a trace of rain has fallen since July 18th.

The long range forecast does call for some rain and temperatures to drop below normal into the 1st week of August.
