Illinois man charged in Chicago hit-and-run that critically injured woman

A suburban man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash last summer that critically injured a pedestrian in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood.

The backstory:

Michael Reznik, 37, allegedly struck a 40-year-old woman who was in the crosswalk on May 4 in the 2000 block of West Armitage Avenue, police said.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her body and was taken to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Police released images of the four-door sedan involved in the crash, which had suffered extensive damage to the windshield and lost its front lower grill.

Reznik, of Wauconda, was arrested Tuesday in the 5500 block of West Grand Avenue. 

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury and aggravated reckless driving causing bodily harm, both felonies. He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of failure to render aid.

What's next:

Reznik has a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
