Cook County judge rules Tiffany Henyard can't appear on Thornton Township ballot

Tiffany Henyard's name will not appear on the Thornton Township April 1st ballot.

What we know:

A Cook County judge dismissed Henyard’s lawsuit this week alleging that a caucus improperly selected State Sen. Napoleon Harris as the Democratic nominee for township supervisor.

Voters will still have the option to write in Henyard’s name on the ballot.

The backstory:

Henyard has been embroiled in an ongoing political dispute with two Thornton Township trustees.

Most recently, on Jan. 6, she declined to attend an emergency meeting called to address the reopening of the township, which has been without government services since Dec. 1 due to lapsed insurance coverage.

Henyard is accused of withholding critical financial information and is also under investigation by the FBI for alleged corruption.

What we don't know:

The timeline for resolving the township’s insurance crisis remains unclear, as does the date of the next emergency meeting.
