A neighbor ran in to rescue four people from a house fire Wednesday in the Chicago suburb of Elk Grove Village.

Among those rescued was an elderly man who uses a wheelchair.

The fire broke out just around 5 p.m. at a house on the 500 block of Crest Avenue in Elk Grove Village. Neighbors say they saw flames bursting out of a garage attached to the home. The people who were home apparently had no knowledge that the fire was happening.

A neighbor who was mowing his lawn saw says he saw lots of smoke and knew the people would be in trouble if he didn't spring into action, so he decided to alert the family.

Another neighbor called 911 and the fire department arrived and while there was a lot damage done to the home, thanks to the quick thinking neighbors, everyone got out unharmed.
