Soda on the decline as water demand surges

You've probably noticed the trend at grocery and convenience stores: fewer bottles of soda on the shelves, and more bottles of water.

Soda is still Americans' go to drink, but its share of the U.S. beverage market shrunk 2 percent last year.

It seems the public wants water.

Last year, Americans drank nearly 11 billion gallons of water, which is a 7 percent jump from 2013.
