Reaction pours in after Ed Burke sentenced to prison

A federal jury convicted Burke on 13 corruption counts after hearing allegations that the longest-serving City Council member in Chicago history with a 54-year tenure had used his power to win private law business from developers. The corruption schemes occurred in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Long-time Chicago Alderman Ed Burke will be back in court for sentencing Monday. The former city council member was found guilty on several counts of racketeering, corruption, attempted extortion and more. Former Alderman Dick Simpson said he's likely to get up to 10 years in prison.
