Tonight on the Chicago Report, it's been a heated debate for well over a year.  What penalties should youth face for participating in teen takeovers.  Just this week, teens took over parts of Hyde Park.  They left damaged cars and a lot of folks shaken up.

Let’s turn now to someone working on the front lines of this issue. Dr. Sandie Norman, based in Chicago, is the founder of Chain Breakers Violence Intervention & Prevention Ministries. She has been on the ground during the recent teen takeovers, working directly with the community.

It’s been a year and a half of back-and-forth for alderman Brian Hopkins of Chicago’s 2nd Ward, who has been pushing for a snap curfew aimed at curbing the takeovers. Hopkins says he’s not giving up. Today I spoke with him via zoom he says when he returns to chicago he's back to the drawing board to work on a new proposal.

Right now--- there's a bill making its way through Springfield, which would give all people in prison the right to vote.  If you're in jail in Illinois, you can vote.  But you can't if you're in prison for a felony, you lose that right. Sen. Collins is here with more.
