A 17-year-old boy is facing a carjacking charge after police said he stole a car from two at gunpoint in Mount Greenwood in November. 

In a statement announcing DeVoto’s termination, the administration said the firing was made more necessary “because of a subsequent conversation with the teacher in which the same racial slur was communicated in its entirety several times despite clear and formal directives to stop."

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with carjacking two women in Chicago's Mount Greenwood neighborhood, and the crime was caught on surveillance video.

The Chicago Police Department is warning residents in South Chicago, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood neighborhoods of recent carjackings. 

At about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Cowans allegedly took a car by force from the victim in Mount Greenwood. He was arrested by police at 9:19 p.m.
