Chicago Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect ahead of snow, bitter cold

A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 6 p.m. today through noon Friday to account for 2 to 4 inches of snow and some blowing snow in open areas leading to tricky travel conditions.
