The wintry weather we experienced this week will give way to a warmer weekend in Chicago. Could spring actually stick around this time?

Highs, while not as cold as Wednesday, will still be about 15 degrees cooler than normal for the end of April.

The city will be in the mid 30s today with the only areas at or below freezing across the northern tier of Illinois counties.

Keep the winter jackets handy for tomorrow but hopefully it won't get any colder after Wednesday for the rest of spring in Chicago.

Should skies clear just before sunrise, there would be only a short window of time when temps could tank. The upshot is no big issues with the cold this morning (other than it’s too darn chilly for late April).

A cool pattern kicks in after our warm weekend. It could stick around.
