Edgewater man charged with distributing child pornography

CHICAGO (SUN TIMES WIRE) - Bond was set at $500,000 for an Edgewater man charged with several counts of possessing and distributing child pornography.
George Alfred Schneider, 43, faces four felony counts of child pornography after officers searched his home in the 5200 block of North Sheridan, according to a statement from Chicago Police. The search took place July 13 and Schneider turned himself in to Area North detectives the next day.
Police allege that Schneider was “responsible for disseminating images and movies of underage children engaged in sexual acts via his computer.”
He was ordered held Friday on a $500,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 4, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
