Girl, 10, in stable condition after being rescued from Lake Michigan at 31st Street Beach: CFD

A scary reminder about the dangers of Lake Michigan: a 10-year-old girl nearly drowned Memorial Day at 31st Street Beach.

She was revived thanks to a group of good Samaritans and emergency responders.

"She was lifeless. Like, laying there...lifeless," said LaShawn Ray, who performed CPR on the child.  "I began to pump her chest. When the water came up, I stopped. When she took a breath and began to cry, I asked them to sit her up. She hugged her mom and I knew that she was ok."
