CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - Former Illinois First Lady Patti Blagojevich continues to try to get President Donald Trump to pardon her husband by going on Fox News to make her case.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is serving 14 years for political corruption.

Patti Blagojevich went on Judge Jeanine Pirro's show on Saturday night, praising Trump's leadership and conflating her husband's situation with the investigation targeting Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"They [prosecutors] create crimes where there are no crimes," Mrs. Blagojevich said. "They make up crimes. They make a big splash in the press just to bring down people who are controversial or who they don't like."

Mrs. Blagojevich said that the "same people" who "went after" her husband are "going after" Trump now.

"They are trying to undo elections and play politics instead of doing what they are supposed to do," she said.

Then she directly addressed flattery towards Trump.

"It takes a strong leader like President Trump to right these wrongs," she said.

Trump has indicated that he might be willing to pardon Blagojevich. If he does not, Blagojevich, 61, is scheduled to be released May 23, 2024.
