LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two months after two men were arrested at an illicit marijuana farm on public land deep in the Northern California wilderness, authorities are assessing the environmental impact and cleanup costs at the site where trees were clear-cut, waterways were diverted, and the ground was littered with open containers of fertilizer and rodenticide.

Firefighters quickly gained the upper hand and knocked down a brush fire that sparked Saturday afternoon near Malibu. 

A 16-year-old boy who authorities said shot five fellow students - killing two - before turning the gun on himself at a Southern California high school died on Friday afternoon. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has yet to identify the gunman in Thursday's shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita but neighbors who lived next door to the suspect and others at Saugus High School say the shooter is 16-year-old Nathaniel "Nate" Berhow.

Heidi Van Tassell said the incident occurred a few months ago as she was leaving dinner in Hollywood.
