A 17-year-old boy was killed and four other teens were wounded in a "targeted" shooting Sunday night in Evanston.

"I stood there for a minute and I saw all these faces looking at me and I started to cry for a minute. I thought this is very different from anything we've ever dealt with."

A note was sent to parents Friday explaining that stress is causing burnout for staff and absences could not be filled, even with substitutes.

“We believe this is a result of educators and support staff needing to rest and focus on mental health and also to tend to their own families,” said District 65 Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton.
