What started as a relatively peaceful and joyous evening at North Avenue Beach ended in bloodshed that had Chicago Police Supt. David Brown once again urging people not to bring guns to the beach.

A mix of over 140 local and national artists will showcase their work at the Wells Street Art Festival in Old Town this weekend. 

Two people, including a 14-year-old boy, were wounded early Saturday morning in a shooting in Old Town on the Near North Side.

"Crime has gone through the roof. I've lived in this area since 1964 – I've never seen it so bad," one resident said. "Ms. Mayor, Kim Foxx, Tim Evans, Pritzker – you live right in this area. Do something."

Chicago police issued an alert to residents on the Near North Side on Thursday warning of a string of recent armed robberies.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged in the armed carjacking of a 64-year-old in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. 

A teenager was charged in connection with a December carjacking in the Old Town neighborhood on Chicago's North Side.

Chicago police are looking for a young man wanted for a robbery on a CTA Brown Line train in Old Town.

The 32-year-old man got into an argument with an “unknown offender” and that person pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Chicago police say Brett Dimick was driving in the Lake View neighborhood when he allegedly struck two pedestrians, killing one of them and then fleeing the scene.

In one incident, a 72-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman were sitting in a parked vehicle when they were forced out by a man with a gun. They were told to lay on the ground face down, and the male victim's wallet was taken.

STOLEN AMBULANCE: A person stole an ambulance Tuesday night from Norwegian Hospital in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, and part of the chase was caught on camera.

A man died Tuesday morning on a CTA Red Line platform in the Old Town neighborhood.

Police said initial information they received about the incident was unfounded.
