Aurora man sentenced to 18 years for sexually assaulting young family member

“This defendant took advantage of a situation, raping a young family member who trusted him. The victim was new to the United States and highly vulnerable, yet the defendant thought only of himself, knowing his actions were criminal. He seemed more concerned about getting caught than his victim’s well-being," said Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Lori Schmidt.

Huge 'A Pint for Kim' blood drive planned at Aurora Airport on Saturday

The blood drive is named after Kim Sandford, a Naperville mom who lost her battle with a rare cancer two years ago. She received more than 40 blood transfusions during her treatment. Her sisters started “A Pint for Kim” to raise awareness about blood donations.
